HUGŪ technology was developed by Dean Meyer of MeyerDesign Group, while he was working with Annika's Sorenstam's caddy, Terry McNamara. Dean's goal was to lighten the load of professional caddies, thereby improving their health, wellness, and career longevity.

During a three-year period, research expanded to backpacks and other related products. Dean consulted with both medical and backpack safety experts, and involved them in the testing and validation of the technology.
Today there are five HUGŪ patents pending, which cover a wide range of applications for this breakthrough technology.
